  • To enable post harvest preservation and improve shelf life of agricultural produce by drying them using solar energy under controlled atmosphere and hygienic conditions.
  • To bring down the high post harvest losses while drying and to add value addition to the produce.
Details of Works

Provision of Polycarbonate sheet covered green house type Solar driers to the farmers/farmers’ groups for floor area of 400 Sq.ft to 1000 Sq.ft - for drying agricultural produce like copra, chillies, maize, spices, moringa leaves, banana, mango etc.,

Benefits offered (Subsidy) and outcome

Maximum allowable subsidy is 50% of actual cost of construction or the subsidy arrived according to the floor area on pro rata basis restricted to Rs. 1,60,000/- per unit whichever is less for small, marginal, SC/ST and women farmers and 40% of actual cost or Rs.1,50,000/- per unit whichever is less for other farmers.


All the farmers/farmers’ groups willing to give lands for construction of solar drying units.

Time-limit for Implementation
Programme will be completed within the financial year.
